In an uncertain retail season, the December lineup, led by Patricia Cornwell and Ann Coulter, is pretty predictable. Though Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps's memoir and Harry S. Dent's hard-times financial guide could surge, it won't be a surprise if publishers rein in other printings in the next month. In children's books, new titles by Kate Brian and Alison Goodman may help fill the void left by the end of popular series by Stephenie Meyer and Cornelia Funke.
