New Tablets, Overseas Expansion for B&N

Last week was a busy one for Barnes & Noble, which unveiled the 7-in. Nook HD (8GB), and a 9-in. Nook HD+ (16GB), a new generation of redesigned multimedia tablet readers. The new devices will be on store shelves by November. The company also announced the appointment of Patrick Rouvillois to the new role of v-p, managing director–international. In addition, B&N signed four new U.K. retail chains to carry its devices, bringing the number of outlets set to sell the Nook family in the U.K. to almost 2,000. Finally, B&N announced plans to launch Nook Video, a new service offering movies and TV shows for viewing on a range of devices.

Gallagher Joining Ingram

The Ingram Content Group named Kelly Gallagher v-p of content acquisition. Gallagher has been head of Bowker’s publishing solutions team.
