Bestseller Stat Shot

Last week, we lost one of the great writers of our time: Gabriel García Márquez died at age 87 in Mexico City. The Colombian author was awarded the Nobel prize in 1982, sold millions of books worldwide, and is generally credited with creating magical realism. His books can be found on pretty much every M.F.A. syllabus, but he also won the Oprah seal of approval, and when she picked Love in the Time of Cholera and One Hundred Years of Solitude for her book club, sales of those titles shot to levels normally seen only for books by big-name commercial authors. Here are the English-language print sales figures for García Márquez’s three most popular titles, across multiple formats and editions.
