Ever since Algonquin used the American Booksellers Association’s Winter Institute to get booksellers to read and fall in love with Sara Gruen’s Water for Elephants, which sold more than a million copies before being turned into a film, publishers have been using the winter bookselling confab to generate excitement—and not just for adult titles. This year more than 20 children’s book authors and illustrators will be on hand to greet booksellers at the seventh annual gathering, Wi7, next week in New Orleans. They will include YA authors like John Green, whose The Fault in Our Stars was just released, and middle-grade author Jennifer Nielsen, whose first book in the Ascendance trilogy, The False Prince, will be out in the spring. Simon & Schuster is using the show to build enthusiasm for the July release of Lisa Stasse’s The Forsaken, while Philomel is one of several houses promoting books that have just shipped, like Andrea Cremer’s Bloodrose. Below is a complete list of children’s and teen authors and illustrators, who are scheduled to be at Wi7, alpha by book title.
