Richard Nash, Small Demons v-p, content and community is leaving as the company winds down its operations and will join Byliner, the digital subscription reading service, as v-p, partnerships. In his new role, Nash will work to add more content to Byliner—it has more than 30,000 stories on the site now—dealing directly with publishers, media brands and agents.

Nash takes his new position at Byliner as Small Demons, an online venture that indexed the places, music, food and things mentioned in books, begins shutting down its operations after failing to find a buyer.

Founded in 2011, Byliner offers subscription access to a growing database of narrative nonfiction content in addition to fiction. The site offers a wide variety of free content as well as unlimited access to exclusive premium content written by Byliner’s lineup of authors, Richard Russo, Ann Patchett, Sebastien Junger and Margaret Atwood among them.

Byliner president Deanna Brown says of Nash's appointment: “We are looking forward to him bringing his years of experience both in book publishing and in the realm of start-ups to his new role at Byliner.”

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to help publishers and agents expand the reach of all their authors through offering their work to the highly-engaged Byliner subscribers,” Nash says.
