Random House has won the auction for the latest book by Pope Francis, Happiness In This life, and will publish it in the U.S. and Canada in December.

The book, which will be published simultaneously in hardcover, e-book, audio, and large print editions, collects short speeches and homilies by Pope Francis that center on finding joy in daily life. It includes “everything from embracing a spirit of mercy, to understanding the deeper spiritual lessons of frustration, to learning why flawed families make you a better person,” the publisher said in a statement.

Random House associate editor Mika Kasuga acquired North American and audio rights to Happiness In This Life from Veronica Broglio at Italian publisher Piemme Edizioni. The book was pre-empted in Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and the U.K., and has sold in Croatia, France, Lithuania, and Slovakia.

Happiness In This Life is not the first book by Pope Francis to be published by Random House. The publisher released The Joy of the Gospel (2014), Encountering Truth (2015), and the bestselling The Name of God is Mercy (2016), among others.
