Theresa Zoro has been promoted to the newly-created role of executive v-p and executive creative director for marketing and public relations at Random House. She was executive v-p and director of publicity and communications. Zoro's appointment comes the day after Sanyu Dillon was promoted from executive v-p and director of marketing at Little Random, to executive v-p and director of marketing strategy and consumer engagement at Penguin Random House. Zoro will be taking over most of Dillon's responsibilities in addition to retaining her existing duties.

In a letter to staff, Random House president and publisher Gina Centrello wrote that Zoro will oversee marketing, publicity, communications, and consumer insights for the Random House division, as well as for the Random House, Ballantine Bantam Dell, Del Rey, Dial Press, Lenny, Modern Library, One World, and Spiegel & Grau imprints. Dillon, in her new role, will report directly to Penguin Random House CEO Madeline McIntosh.

"With her deep passion for books and her growing focus on new methods for discovery, Theresa has masterfully orchestrated the publicity strategy for our list—from evolving literary debuts into prizewinners to turning unknowns into bestselling author franchises—in every format in which we publish," Centrello wrote. "Theresa is a superb leader and outstanding publishing partner who is more than ready to take on this new responsibility, and I’m eager to work with her on the formation of a dynamic, fully integrated creative department."

In saying farewell to Dillon, Centrello observed: "To say that Sanyu has been an essential partner in our success is an understatement. A tireless champion of our books and of our publishing teams, she has presided over a gold-standard creative group that has been indispensable in helping to launch literary voices, commercial bestsellers, and national conversation starters.... Now all of Penguin Random House will have the opportunity to benefit from her extraordinary acumen and visionary leadership as she takes on companywide corporate-marketing activities with a reader-centric approach."
