Emily Bestler, formerly Atria Books executive editorial director, has been promoted to editor-in-chief and senior v-p of Emily Bestler Books, a new Atria Books imprint that will launch in spring 2011. Emily Bestler Books will publish a list of 10-15 titles in both fiction and nonfiction.

Sarah Branham, formerly an editor working with Bestler at Atria, has been promoted to senior editor and will report to Peter Borland, Atria v-p and editorial director. Emily Bestler Books is also planning to hire an editor for the new imprint. The current Atria staff will handle publishing, sub-rights and publicity operations for Emily Bestler Books.

Judith Curr, executive v-p and publisher of Atria Books, said “Emily has an eye for discovering talented authors, nurturing their careers and growing their sales to bestselling levels.” Bestler has worked at Simon and Schuster for 16 years. Her list of authors includes Jodi Picoult, Sister Souljah, Liza Marklund and many others. Emily Best Books' list will feature many of the authors Best has published at Atria.

“I am incredibly fortunate to have worked with such gifted writers over the years,” Bestler said, “ and I’m excited, with this new imprint, to continue to bring their unique voices to readers across all formats.”
