Sixth & Spring Books seeks a results-driven Director of Sales with a minimum of seven to ten years experience in a senior sales position at a publishing house. A varied sales experience in multiple industries is a plus. The Director of Sales will report to the Publisher and will oversee sales through all channels. Individual will be responsible for spearheading sales efforts on 15-20 front list titles per year and continuing to grow sales for a backlist of over 125 titles. Additionally, the Director of Sales will strategically develop a sales plan for a newly formed craft booklet publishing program and be responsible for all sales efforts for the booklets.

• Serve in a leadership role to strategically guide the sales team towards maximizing sales of each title through all channels and markets.
• Maintain full awareness of best potential markets/customers/channels for Sixth & Spring titles both domestically and internationally
• Continually seek out and follow-up on new customer opportunities while ensuring relationships are being strengthened and sales are growing through existing accounts.
• Work alongside sales team to develop a sales plan for each new title and ensure via thorough follow through that these goals and plans are met.
• Identify potential retail merchandising programs/strategies for specific key accounts. Lead the sales team in presenting these ideas to accounts and ensure that the sales team sees the ideas through to fruition.
• Continuously analyze sales data of each title through all accounts/channels to realize trends, to stay abreast of the performance of each member of the sales team, and to look for new potential sales opportunities.
• Work alongside publisher to determine best formats, packages and price points for books based on current market trends.

• 7-10 years experience in a senior sales position, preferably managing the sales of a craft and/or fine arts title list.
• Proven ability to significantly grow sales and lead new customer acquisitions
• Experience managing a sales team with demonstrated ability to lead team towards improved sales results.
• A seasoned sales professional with established retailer relationships at key accounts for Sixth & Spring titles.
• A motivator with a hands-on approach that is not only a strong leader but also a doer
• An excellent communicator
• A personable team player who is detail oriented, persistent, and meticulous with follow-through
