The world’s leading publisher of books on the visual arts is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Publicist to promote Phaidon’s award-winning titles with a focus in the categories of food, fashion and lifestyle. The position will report to the Publicity and Marketing Director.

Responsibilities:

-The Senior Publicist will be responsible for successfully publicizing numerous hardcover books each season, with a focus on promoting Phaidon’s food, fashion and lifestyle titles.

-Aggressively pitch and secure high quantity of major national and local TV, radio, print and online media that will impact sales.

-Consistently build a maintain a deep list of press contacts across categories and media.

-Draft press releases, pitch letters and press materials.

-Organize events and logistics for multi-city book tours and appearances, including book signings, launch events and lectures.

-Develop and maintain positive and ongoing relationships with authors.

-Create strategic and innovative PR campaigns for titles well in advance of publication.

-Liase with marketing, editorial and sales departments.

-Responsible for proactively promote books and brand via Phaidon’s social media channels

-Some travel required for book tours and seasonal planning meetings.

Essential job requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree required.

-A minimum of 5 years experience in publicity is required.

-A wide range of established press contacts in a wide variety of media.

-Excellent communication skills - outgoing, creative and energetic with a “can do” attitude.

-Strong time-management, writing and organizational skills, and a demonstrated ability to establish and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.

-Careful attention to detail and a high level of professionalism.

-Proven experience driving social media campaigns

-Candidate must be based in New York City.
