The Director will report to the VP of Publisher Relations. Tasks will include First Book Marketplace (FBMP) purchasing and special orders, maintain and develop publisher and author relationships, special projects and collection development, and staff management. We are particularly seeking candidates who are demonstrated entrepreneurs, enthusiastic and energetic collaborators, and skilled communicators who are also meticulously attentive to detail. Experience working in or with the publishing industry and/or familiarity with the field of children's literature is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities include:
* Maintaining First Book Marketplace (FBMP) inventory and quantities to keep wide range of books available in all content areas and age groups and to allow for timely stocking of seasonally appropriate selections; includes monitoring inventory (with junior staff support) and reordering low inventory titles;
* Outreach and educational training for potential publishing partners about the First Book National Book Bank (FBNBB) and FBMP;
* Outreach and educational training for authors about ways to partner with First Book and communicating with authors regarding opportunities and/or events;
* Cultivating new relationships with potential publishing partners including MOUs and related communication;
* Providing executive leadership with information re: publisher relations and strategizing re: the growth and future of Publisher Relations and First Book;
* Project and relationship management (leadership role);
* Create and implement marketing campaigns to increase special orders;
* Responsible for annual financial goals;
* Supporting other First Book teams on a project basis including identifying content-specific needs and provide solutions, as well as coordination with book purchasers at national level;
* Training junior staff on publisher relations processes and other aspects of work and providing junior staff with guidance and feedback on work and work products
