If the answer to each question is “Yes!,” FalconGuides, the country’s leading outdoor recreation publisher, wants you to help drive the strategic direction for print and digital products under the FalconGuides Imprint. We seek a talented leader who can help us further identify the FalconGuide audiences and lead our team of acquisitions editors to even greater success. As the imprint leader, you will serve as the company liaison to this varied outdoor enthusiast community.

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, market conditions, trends, and opportunities within the industry.
•Participate in developing publishing strategy for print, digital, custom, and spinoff products.
•Develop proposals, consider unsolicited proposals, and solicit proposals to meet acquisition goals and deadlines.
•Manage proposal process and lead interaction on acquisitions efforts with team.
•Participate in discussions with sales and marketing and provide materials to support book sales estimates.
•Present product concepts to Executive Director of Editorial for feedback and comments and, if approved, present to Publishing Board.
•Help find marketing opportunities for acquired titles.
•Represent Falcon at the Outdoor Retailers trade show in Salt Lake City, Utah, once or twice a year and at other key events as needed.

•Ability to plan and execute a profitable list, keep within budget and stay on time.
•Possess superior author contract negotiating and P&L skills.
•Minimum of 5 years experience in trade publishing
•Experience dealing with a broad range of authors, and agent contacts

Education & Experience:
B.A. in English or Journalism preferred
