|The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, has an opportunity for an aggressive and confident manager to identify, develop, and publish new publications for our consumer publishing product line. |
The Manager, Consumer Publishing will be responsible for managing all aspects of the AAP consumer book publishing program (child care book series, topic-specific books, and electronic formats); develop and review editorial content to ensure consistency with official AAP policy and generally accepted standards of pediatric health care; and acquire new authors and manuscripts for AAP consumer publishing projects.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors degree in journalism, communications or related discipline required. Five years experience in writing, editing, acquisitions, or other aspects of publishing required, with an emphasis on medical or health-related copy for the lay public. Experience in consumer book publishing is highly beneficial, along with experience in project management and product development. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, pay close attention to detail and manage multiple priorities simultaneously under tight deadlines.
