|Workman Publishing seeks a Publicist for its dynamic team to handle publicity for a variety of titles, both new and backlist. Candidate must have strong knowledge of the media, the book marketplace, and competition, with solid media contacts and experience booking author tours.|
Publicist will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive publicity campaigns, managing author relationships (including those of some of Workman’s bestselling titles), planning 10-20 city tours, writing press materials and pitch letters, and creating the elements of creative press kits and mailings. Must be comfortable pitching national, local, long-lead and short-lead media across print, TV, online and radio.
Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines, comfort in navigating authors’ desires and requests, anticipating the needs of a book campaign, and strong interdepartmental skills. The candidate will be expected to work closely with sales and marketing to maximize publicity efforts; with editorial to fully understand projects at the start; and with the Workman Speakers Bureau to coordinate travel and media around bookings.
Minimum 2-4 years book publicity experience required.
