|ASCD is looking for an Associate Publisher to direct the acquisition and development of print and digital content for books, short-format publications, e-books, hybrid (print + digital) publications, and new formats for electronic mobile devices. You will have direct responsibility for ensuring that these products meet member and customer needs and are high-quality, profitable, and sufficient to meet or exceed annual revenue targets. You will have leadership responsibility in the Association’s strategic content planning efforts and broad authority regarding decisions about what topics and potential content to pursue and the formats in which content will be published.|
In this role, the ideal candidate will:
Qualified candidates must have 10 years’ of experience in publishing, with at least 4 years in an acquisitions/content development role in education publishing with broad decision-making authority and budgetary responsibility. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree, must have in-depth knowledge of trends, issues, experts, and customer needs in K–12 education; extensive knowledge of copyright law, publishing contracts, and publishing processes and procedures; and deep knowledge of print and digital product conceptualization and development practices, editing and writing standards, author management, project budgeting (including Profit &Loss estimates for print, digital, and hybrid products), and marketing. Experience working at a membership association on member benefits and experience as a teacher, administrator, leader, or professional development specialist is highly desirable.
