This position will manage all aspects of consumer and professional books including cost center management, reporting, creating effective campaigns, evaluation of marketing efforts, achieving sales and margin objectives as set forth in the annual business plan, oversight of all promotional activities for a specific business group, and development and presentation of new products and promotions to retail sales, customer service, national sales force, and key trade accounts.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Plan, develop, and execute annual business/marketing plan for each product area including Consumer Products and Professional and Academic Books.
• Achieve annual sales budget and manage advertising budget.
• Support publishing plan by preparing financially viable product proposals for approval.
• Direct and lead cross-functional teams focused on product, promotion, and the customer.
• Develop and monitor marketing strategies based upon sound research of the marketplace. Research the competition in order to properly position products in the marketplace, identifying both large scale and niche opportunities.
• Develop marketing programs focused on growth strategy and designed to maximize both the launch of new titles as well as products later in their life cycle.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships cross-functionally to ensure development, production, promotion, sales, and distribution of products meet targeted goals for cost, quality, volume, schedule, and revenue.
• Actively engage in ongoing study of relevant market segments regarding customer needs/desires for new products, customer characteristics, buyer profiles, market trends, etc. Track and analyze data to influence future marketing decisions.
• Utilize technology to strategize and implement digital and e-book marketing initiatives.

The successful candidate will have a B.S. in Marketing or related field; three years experience in marketing and product management; solid understanding of the book industry; knowledge of the LCMS and/or the Christian market; demonstrated proficiency in database management, social media, product launch, web analytic tools, search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), experience conducting primary and secondary market research, and strong MS Office Suite skills.
