Rowman & Littlefield is looking for an established editor with a demonstrated acquisition record to help build our list of high-quality, innovative upper-division college textbooks in the social sciences. He or she will possess superior editorial judgment, as well as an independent and entrepreneurial spirit. This position offers significant growth opportunity, and the selected candidate will have the option of working remotely or from one of the company’s several offices across the United States.

****Major Responsibilities****

• Researching curriculum and teaching trends in relevant subject areas to meet teaching needs, to include campus and convention travel
• Identifying potential authors, developing proposals, presenting new projects to the editorial board, and negotiating contracts
• Commissioning revisions of successful texts on competitive schedules
• Working with authors to ensure that manuscripts reach their full potential
• Overseeing the publishing process for each title, including coordinating with production, design, marketing, publicity, and sales departments

****Requirements****

• B.A. or B.S. degree
• 5+ years of related publishing experience
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
