|Riptide Publishing, an industry leading digital press releasing approximately 75 new LGBTQ fiction titles each year, is seeking a Marketing Coordinator. Duties will include the managing and coordinating of day-to-day marketing and publicity tasks for the press: Perform research, cultivate and nurture our contact lists, prep blog tours, explore new marketing opportunities, develop marketing plans, assist with social media accounts, vet NetGalley requests, liaise with authors, etc. You will manage three part-time employees, and will also represent the press at industry events and conventions such as RT, RWA, BEA, GayRomLit, etc.; expect to travel approximately five times per year.|
Required skills: Strong writing and interpersonal skills are a must, as is a friendly, energetic, and personable manner. Knowledge of the romance genre, LGBTQ fiction, and/or LGBTQ community issues are a strong plus, as is sales experience. Must possess the ability to work autonomously, under extremely tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment, with little supervision. Demonstrable creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. Up-to-the-minute knowledge of social media, including standbys like Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest, book-specific sites like Goodreads and LibraryThing, and emerging trends. This is primarily a telecommuting position—you’ll work largely from home and set your own hours—so strong self-management is required. Must be a self-starter who enjoys pitching new ideas and following them through to completion, but who will also complete less-glamorous daily tasks on deadline every time. Must have a 4-year degree in marketing, sales, publishing, library sciences, or similar discipline, plus a minimum of 2 years of full-time marketing or publicity experience at a publishing house, agency, library, bookstore, or other fiction-related field. In lieu of this experience, we will also consider librarians, booksellers, or highly experienced bloggers/media people with buying power in their institution and management experience.
This position is salaried. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) with employer match, flex hours, work-from-home, and paid vacation/sick time.
About us: Riptide is a small house expanding rapidly. You’ll be part of an intimate team, with the satisfaction of knowing that every choice you make and every hour you work will directly and substantively impact the success of the company. We offer tremendous flexibility in working hours and locations (you can live and work anywhere in the continental United States), a relaxed and highly collaborative working environment, and strong opportunity for advancement.
