Bookmarks’ Book Build Initiative Wins $200K Grant

Literary arts non-profit Bookmarks received a $200K grant from The Mebane Charitable Foundation for its Book Build: Fostering Connections by Building Collections initiative, which is working to bring current, culturally-relevant books to Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School libraries.

The Foundation, which advocates for child literacy and education, will release $50,000 of the grant immediately, but $50,000 of the remaining $150,000 pledge is in the form of a challenge grant requiring Bookmarks to raise an additional $50,000 by December 31, 2018, in order to receive those funds.

Donations for Book Build: Fostering Connections by Building Collections can be made online at bookmarksnc.org or by mail: 634 W. Fourth Street #110, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Ginger Hendricks, Executive Director, can also be reached directly at: gh@bookmarksnc.org
