Roxane Gay Gets Imprint at Grove
Grove Atlantic has teamed up with author Roxane Gay to form the Roxane Gay Books imprint. According to Grove, the new imprint will publish three titles per year, a mix of fiction and nonfiction.
Grove published Gay’s debut novel, An Untamed State, in 2014 and continues to be Gay’s fiction publisher. On July 1, Gay will open calls for submissions, both agented and unagented. Grove said she is looking for “writing that is beautifully written, provocative, and intelligent from writers who are willing to take risks on the page.”
Grove also announced a paid one-year fellowship program, shared between the company and Roxane Gay Books. The fellowship is intended as a “crash course” in publishing for candidates who might not have access to the industry through traditional avenues.
