Drawn from the Christmas in My Heart
stories, this second installment of Wheeler's Christmas in My Soul
franchise delivers exactly what readers have come to expect: sweet, inspirational, undemanding holiday stories. If there is a difference, it's that the majority of these are postwar, even contemporary, and that they are what Wheeler considers the cream of the crop: instead of 15 to 19 stories, this gift book offers just six. Margaret Sangster, clearly one of Wheeler's favorite authors, appears once again here with "Small Gifts," though the most touching stories are Anita Fordyce's "Red Shoes" and Christine Whiting Parmenter's "Christmas Magic."
