This month, Michelle Argyle at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of Madam Tulip by David Ahern.

Design Note 1: The author loved the color scheme of his original cover, so I stuck with the same background color and font colors.

Design Note 2: This book is part of a series, and in that case I always like to make sure a cover displays a series title, a book number in the series, or both.

Design Note 3: It’s always fun to have images interact with the typography. Putting the woman’s hat on top of the M but behind the author’s last name creates a sense of depth.

Design Note 4: The main character spends a lot of time among upper-class people (even though she is not one herself), so I found an image that helped show her character in that sort of setting.
