Recently, an author came from Down Under and visited U.S. bookstores, a partnership brought a reading experience to a Bronx elementary school, an author launched her picture book biography, and writers gathered in Los Angeles for a conference.
An International Appearance
Co-chair of the Advisory Council of the SCBWI and picture book author Christopher Cheng recently made a series of U.S. appearances while visiting from Australia for the SCBWI Regional Advisors Retreat. On November 4, Cheng stopped by Washington, D.C. bookstore Politics & Prose to sign copies of his new picture book Will We Always Hold Hands?, illustrated by Michael King (Random House Studio).
Partnering for Public Schools
Lee & Low Books staffers partnered with nonprofit Start Lighthouse to read with students in kindergarten through third grade at P.S. 5 Port Morris in the Bronx, N.Y., on November 16. Launch Event Hits a High Note
Brick & Mortar Books in Redmond, Wash., gave author Suma Subramaniam a warm welcome for the launch event of her picture book biography She Sang for India (FSG) on November 12. Illustrated by Shreya Gupta, the book depicts the life and impact of Indian singer M.S. Subbulakshmi. Here Subramaniam signs copies of her book for guests.
A Megawatt Event
On November 19, writers gathered at the Loews Hotel in Hollywood for the 13th annual writers conference WattCon. The event featured panels, workshops, q&as, book signings, and other opportunities for readers to learn more about Wattpad authors and books.
