Cinco Puntos Press Names New President, Adds to Staff
John Byrd has been named president and chief financial officer of Cinco Puntos, the independent publishing company founded in 1985 by Lee Merrill Byrd and Bobby Byrd and headquartered in El Paso, Tex. Press cofounder Bobby Byrd is stepping away from his leadership role and will serve as publisher emeritus, developing special projects and collaborating with staff as needed. Cofounder Lee Merrill Byrd will continue to serve as publisher and editor-in-chief.
Cinco Puntos will also expand its editorial and marketing teams. Jessica Powers has been named editorial and foreign rights director, and Stephanie Frescas Macías has joined the press as publicity director. Artist and graphic designer Zeke Peña will join part-time as the press's first artistic director. Cactus Mary Fountaine will continue in her roles as inventory and office manager.
