$50,000 Gotham Book Prize Launches

Nominations have opened for the first Gotham Book Prize, which will award $50,000 to the author of a book about New York City or that takes place in New York City. The prize will be selected by a jury and is open to any work of fiction or non-fiction published this year. The recipient will be announced in December.

The jury is comprised of the award's founders and funders, including authors Anna Akbari and Tom Healy, filmmaker Ric Burns, Queens Public Library president and CEO Dennis Walcott, and scholar Christina Greer, among others. Nominations must be submitted by November 1.
