Washington State Booksellers Hold Auction for Binc

Chuck and Dee Robinson, the founders of Village Books in Bellingham, Wash., are conducting a 10-day auction that begins on Aug. 7 and runs through Aug. 16 of their collection of first edition books and ARCs, many of which are signed or inscribed by the author. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Book Industry Charitable Foundation [Binc], which provides financial assistance to booksellers in need. Chuck is a member of Binc’s board.

Among the items the Robinsons are auctioning off are signed or inscribed copies by John Grisham, Dan Brown, Margaret Atwood, John Updike, Bob Hope, Cormac McCarthy, William Safire, Salman Rushdie, Condoleezza Rice, Chuck Palahniuk, and many others.  There’s even a signed letter from Jackie Kennedy Onassis, plus literary swag accumulated over the decades since the Robinsons launched Village Books in 1980.

Binc has given more than $2.7 million since March to booksellers, bookstores, and comic bookstores affected by the novel coronavirus.
