Pat Strachan to Retire from Catapult

Pat Strachan, a founding editor of independent publisher Catapult, has announced her retirement, effective March 2022.

Strachan began her career as an editor at Farrar, Straus and Giroux in 1971, where she acquired and edited first books by such authors as Lydia Davis, Ian Frazier, Jamaica Kincaid, Padgett Powell, and Marilynne Robinson. Working at Catapult since its inception in 2014, Strachan's authors include Jane Alison, Danielle Dutton, James Kelman, Michelle de Kretser, Zachary Lazar, Simeon Marsalis, Peter Orner, and Padgett Powell. She received the 1982 PEN/Roger Klein Award for Editing and the 2010 Editor's Award from Poets and Writers.
