Robin Desser to Leave PRH

After more than three decades with the company across three imprints, Robin Desser, senior v-p and editor-in-chief of Random House, will leave Penguin Random House effective April 1 of this year.

Desser joined the Random House division in early 2020, leading the publisher's editorial department and acquiring fiction, nonfiction (including memoir), and poetry. Prior to joining Random House, she served as editor at Vintage and then at Knopf, where she became editorial director in 2013. That same year, she was awarded the Center for Fiction's Medal for Editorial Excellence. Desser first began her publishing career as an editorial assistant at St. Martin's Press.

“I’ve been so fortunate to work with Andy [Ward, publisher of Random House] and the extraordinary editorial team at Random House—as well as the very best teams in publishing during my time at Penguin Random House,” Desser said in a statement. “Making this decision wasn’t easy, given my love for this place, but I’m happily looking forward to exploring new adventures—and staying connected by working on some select editorial projects.”
