2022 PEN America Literary Awards Held In-Person, Hosted by Seth Meyers

The 2022 PEN America Literary Awards will be held live and in-person on February 28 at New York City's Town Hall. The event will be hosted by Seth Meyers, who previously hosted in 2020. The ceremony will reveal the winners of 11 book awards across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, biography, essay, translation, and more. Finalists for each award were announced last week.

PEN America has also announced its 2022 Career Achievement Honorees, who will receive their awards at the February 28 event. The Honorees are: 

  • Multi-hyphenate Elaine May, recipient of the PEN/Mike Nichols Writing for Performance Award ($25,000)
     
  • Author Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, selected by a judges David Treuer, Laila Lalami, and Mónica de la Torre to receive the PEN/Nabokov Award for Achievement in International Literature ($50,000)
     
  • Playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury, chosen by judges Vinson Cunningham, Velina Hasu Houston, and Christian Parker for the PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater Award ($10,000)
