PSU, PubWest, and IBPA Release Publishing Distribution Report

The Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), PubWest, and Portland State University's (PSU) Graduate Program in Book Publishing has released a report outlining the findings of PSU's student-led research on publishing distribution practices.

The report includes analysis and recommendations to address the following issues: decreasing the return rate for books sold into trade channels; optimizing delivery of print books purchased online to readers; making book printing carbon neutral by 2050; embracing POD as preferred means for printing non-illustrated black-and-white trade books; and identifying which shortcomings in the book industry were most exposed by the pandemic.

The report can be viewed here.
