Copper Canyon Kickstarts Book, Film on Red Pine

Copper Canyon Press and Woody Creek Pictures have colaunched a Kickstarter campaign to fund two projects that focused on the the life and works of Red Pine, né Bill Porter, the translator of Chinese poetry and Buddhist texts. The two companies hope to raise $80,000 by June 1 in an effort to fund the publication of the anthology Red Pine: Dancing with the Dead and premiere of the documentary film Dancing with the Dead: The Life and Times of Red Pine, directed by Ward Serrill and produced by Rose Theatre owner Rocky Friedman. The companies aim to release both projects in 2023. The Kickstarter campaign will help fund the costs of publishing the anthology—editorial, printing, promotion, distribution, and paper costs—as well as the final stages of the documentary film’s production.
