Some Improvement in Printing Time

While capacity remained high in July for all printers who responded to the Book Manufacturers’ Institute monthly member survey, there was noticeable decrease in lead times.

According to 16 responses, the average manufacturer was running at 84% of their capacity for hardcovers in July, down from 90% in June. The average lead time for completed hardcover books dropped a month, falling from 104 days in June to 74 days. For softcover books, capacity usage stayed at 91% in July but the average lead time dropped from 84 days in June to 56 days in July.
