Left Bank Books Owner Named 2022 Voice of the Heartland

The Great Lakes Independent Booksellers and Midwest Independent Booksellers Associations announced that they are presenting Kris Kleindienst, owner of Left Bank Books in St. Louis, Mo., with the 2022 Voice of the Heartland award. Kleindienst has been affiliated with Left Bank Books for 48 of its 53 years, the last 45 years as co-owner and then owner.

The award is given by the two organizations to recognize individuals and organizations who “uphold the value of independent bookselling and have made a significant contribution to bookselling in the Midwest.” The Voice of the Heartland award will be presented to Kleindienst on Oct. 12 during the Heartland Fall Forum in St. Louis, as part of MIBA and GLIBA’s awards ceremony.
