Carla Gray Memorial Scholarship Applications Open for 2023

The Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) has opened applications for its Carla Gray Memorial Scholarship for Emerging Bookseller/Activist. The scholarship, to be given to a bookseller with less than five years of professional experience, provides its recipient with the means to attend two bookselling events, Winter Institute 2023 and the recipient's local regional bookselling conference next fall. The recipient also receives $1,000 to be used to develop a community outreach project having to do with books and literacy. The scholarship is in honor of Carla Gray, the executive marketing director of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, who died unexpectedly in 2017 on the eve of that year’s BookExpo. The deadline for this year’s applications is October 15.
