Kiese Laymon, Robin Wall Kimmerer Among 2022 MacArthur Fellows

The MacArthur Foundation has announced its 2022 MacArthur Fellows, each of whom will receive a "genius grant" of $800,000. Among this year's 25 fellows are several writers, including: 

  • Jennifer Carlson, author of Citizen-Protectors (Oxford University)
  • P. Gabrielle Foreman, author of Activist Sentiments (University of Illinois)
  • Martha Gonzalez, author of Chican@ Artivistas (University of Texas)
  • Monica Kim, author of The Interrogation Rooms of the Korean War (Princeton University)
  • Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass (Milkweed)
  • J. Drew Lanham, author of The Home Place (Milkweed)
  • Kiese Laymon, author of Heavy (Scribner)
  • Reuben Jonathan Miller, author of Halfway Home (Little, Brown)
  • Loretta Ross, co-author of Reproductive Justice (University of California)
  • Steven Ruggles, author of Prolonged Connections (University of Wisconsin)
