Jeddah Book Fair Welcomes 900 Publishers

The Jeddah Book Fair opened in Saudi Arabia today and welcomed more than 900 publishers from around the country and the international community. Jeddah joined the Riyadh Book Fair and Medina Book Fair's the the third book publishing event on the calendar this year, in part of an effort of expanding access to books around the country. In a first for the nation, the fair featured a pre-event Science Fiction Conference and another event focused on digital publishing.

Dr. Mohammad Alwan CEO of the Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission, the organization which administers the fair, said, "JBF caters to the increasing thirst for knowledge and provides opportunities for partnerships and investment. Through events like this, we are providing Saudis with access to this ever-expanding domain and welcoming visitors and participants from the world over to be a part of the growth of this important sector."
