Cynthia Flaim Retires from PW

Cynthia Flaim, who has been involved with Publishers Weekly since 1980, has retired from the magazine. Flaim worked on production for PW and its then–sister publications, Library Journal and School Library Journal, for years, and was PW’s production manager when the magazine began its first ABA (and then BEA) Show Dailies at the ABA conference in Washington, D.C.

Up through 2010, Flaim held various roles for a range of trade magazines that were also owned by PW’s parent company, Reed Business, including American Baby, Interior DesignModern Bride, and Variety. She was reunited with PW in 2010 when former PW publisher George Slowik Jr. bought the magazine and asked Flaim to help with the transition.

Over the last 12 years, Flaim has worked in the business office, overseeing accounts receivable while also helping with bookkeeping. “Cynthia has been a huge asset to Publishers Weekly, and I wish her a happy retirement,” said PW CEO and publisher Cevin Bryerman.

“I had a wonderful career,” Flaim said. “It's funny that it began with PW and is now ending with PW.”
