Fredrik Backman Signs with UTA

Swedish author Fredrik Backman has signed United Talent Agency in all areas. UTA will represent Backman across various divisions, expanding his publishing business alongside media rights, theater, podcasts, and more. Backman joins UTA following his former publicist Ariele Fredman, who left Atria for the agency earlier this year, and will represent him alongside UTA publishing co-head Byrd Leavell.

Backman is author of such novels as A Man Called Ove, Anxious People, Beartown, and The Winners. His books have amassed 20 million copies in sales in more than 40 countries. A Man Called Ove—adapted into the film A Man Called Otto, starring Tom Hanks—has sold more than three million copies in the U.S.
