Alison Lazarus Retires from Hachette, Lauren Monaco Named Head of Sales

Alison Lazarus, who for five years served as Hachette Book Group executive v-p and director of sales, will retire from the company next month. Lauren Monaco, currently group sales director for the Penguin and Knopf Doubleday Publishing Groups at Penguin Random House, will succeed her in the role. Lazarus was in publishing for more than 40 years and just prior to moving to HBG spent 20 years heading up sales at Macmillan.

Monaco, a 25-year publishing veteran, served as v-p of digital business and e-commerce development at Random House and v-p Sales National Accounts at Simon & Schuster before her most recent role. Like Lazarus, she will join Hachette's executive management board and report to HBG CEO Michael Pietsch.
