PRH UK to Trim Staff

Penguin Random House UK has begun the process of cutting 38 jobs from its workforce of about 2,060.

In a memo to staff, reprinted by the U.K.’s BookBrunch, PRH chief executive Tom Weldon outlined the ”tough trade-offs” behind decision to remove 38 jobs roles as ”the business faces a longer-term challenge around growing our profits in the face of increasing cost pressures.”

As part of the downsizing effort, PRH has started a collective consultation process, which will run until December 5. All employees to be let go will have at least three individual consultation meetings during this period.
