Kwame Alexander Named Director of Literary Arts at Chautauqua Institution

Chautauqua Institution, a nonprofit community in upstate New York, has appointed ​Kwame Alexander to the role of Michael I. Rudell Artistic Director of Literary Arts, effective December 1. Alexander will also serve as​ the inaugural​ writer-in-residence at Chautauqua.

Alexander will oversee all of Chautauqua's Literary Arts programs, including the Writers' Center, Writers' Festival, Poetry Makerspace, and two annual literary prizes, the Chautauqua Prize and the Chautauqua Janus Prize.
