John Bohman to Retire from PRH

John Bohman, senior v-p of sales and customer operations at Penguin Random House, will retire from the company following the acceptance of a voluntary separation offer. His last day will be  December 15.

Bohman's career in publishing spans more than 40 years. He began his career as a bookseller before joining Ingram Book Company in 1990, where he held a variety of management positions and rose to v-p of sales in 1998, a role in which he was responsible for all of Ingram’s sales to retailers in the U.S. In 2000, he moved to Crown Books, a national chain of 98 retail bookstores.

Bohman joined Random House in 2001 in the newly created position of v-p of customer operations—the first position of its kind at any publisher.

"From brainstorming with colleagues in the early days of the Penguin and Random House merger, to spending time with reps at Sales Conference tossing around what-if scenarios, to working with staff at the Fulfillment Centers on myriad improvement projects," wrote PRH chief revenue officer Jaci Updike in a letter to employees announcing Bohman's departure, "John has always been an enthusiastic listener, who leads through building consensus."
