Rolling TV cameras, an exotic Spanish setting, a pair of boy crushes, and unexpected fame for a 12-year-old give the Lights, Camera, Cassidy series a spirited launch. Accustomed to watching her parents' reality TV travel show from the sidelines, Cassidy gets her chance to step into the limelight when the network requests that she get more airtime, given the growing popularity of her blog. That prospect is more appealing when she discovers she'll be sharing camera time with Mateo, the "way cute" Spanish son of her father's friend. But the spotlight becomes overly bright as Cassidy makes media headlines after a video she films for her blog implicates a powerful mobster in an international smuggling operation. Readers should enjoy the behind-the-scenes glimpse of reality TV, but it's lively and relatable Cassidy (who finally realizes that her friendship with the director's son has morphed into something deeper) who steals the show. She's entirely capable of carrying Gerber's (the Death by Bikini Mysteries) series, which lands her in Greece in Paparazzi, simultaneously available. Ages 9%E2%80%93up. Agent: Elaine Spencer, the Knight Agency. (Mar.)
