Meacham, wife of former Houston Astros coach and Yankee shortstop Bobby Meacham, fulfills her longtime ambition of ministering through writing with this chatty collection of thoughts on how to know God more intimately. The book, separated into three sections focusing on how to satisfy different desires of the heart (longing, seeking, and moving), reads like a pent-up burst of conversation from an acquaintance who has been waiting forever to tell you something. How eager you are to hear it all will depend on how well you can relate to this author and just how much substance you need to go deeper. She includes lessons learned from everyday situations, life on the professional baseball circuit (which wasn't always easy or fun), and stories from Scripture to give advice on how to apply everything to a deeper relationship with God. Despite the title, some readers may find this not at all deep ; others will enjoy the girlfriendly tone. Agent: Wendy Lawton, Books & Such Literary Agency (Oct.)
