Insisting that we are each born with the ability to experience different ways of seeing and knowing, Moss (Conscious Dreaming) invites readers through the portals of ""the twilight zone. The cusp between waking and sleeping, and between sleeping and waking."" Beyond this entrance to the dreamworld, according to Moss, dreamers encounter spirit guides, experience physical and emotional healings, see and create their own futures and are given answers to specific questions. Likening these trips to flying, the author eschews the ""consensual hallucination"" that the physical world is real and the dreamworld is not. Travel in ""dreambodies,"" he contends, is quite real and is an important part of everyone's total life experience, whether or not it is remembered in conscious states. Moss rejects traditional dream analysis, and offers an unusual alternate explanation for ""alien abduction"" stories--that they are actually dream experiences of encounters with spirit beings. Teaching his method of ""active dreaming,"" he provides many provocative individual and group exercises, including breathing, drumming and a variety of visualization techniques.
