A Gift to Remember

Melissa Hill. St. Martin’s Griffin, $26.99 (416p) ISBN 978-1-250-05862-1

Darcy Archer is late for work on the day she slams into a pedestrian on her bicycle, and while the handsome man she mows down is mostly uninjured, his memory is gone. Stuck with a mysterious wrapped gift, a Husky who knows more than he’s letting on, and a handsome, rich amnesiac, bookish and escapist Darcy sets off on a mission to untangle the secrets of Aidan Harris’s life and bring back his memory. Darcy’s story, snooping through whatever she can discover of Aidan’s personal life, is occasionally punctuated with bits of backstory from Aiden’s point of view leading up to the accident, but referring only to his “mission” or the “item” he is trying to acquire lends an additional layer of vagueness to the novel without actually adding much to the story. Nevertheless, this is a cute and sweet Christmas romance that will appeal to fans of the genre in search of a lighthearted read. (Oct.)
