PreS-Gr 2-Child's exuberant illustrations bounce off the page both literally and figuratively in this delightful pop-up title that invites kids to imagine the bed of their dreams. The figure of a sleeping child, sturdily attached to the book by a silver ribbon, can be moved from page to page and inserted in slits designated by asterisks. Thus, the intrepid bed-tester dozes in a tent, amongst flowers, in a seashell, surrounded by stars, or on an elephant's back, while little fingers can explore hidden delights by manipulating wheels and lifting flaps. The rich palette of bright blue, eye-popping pink, and hot orange boogies off the black backgrounds while Rubio's translation happily mirrors the whimsical mood. Bookstores should stock plenty of these for parents looking for engaging bedtime stories, and libraries with budgets that can support some short-lived titles will find this one a popular choice among the younger set.Cheryl Scheer, Denver P.L.
