Pig William

Arlene Dubanevich. Bradbury Press, $14.95 (32pp) ISBN 978-0-02-733200-1

If possible, Dubanevich's sequel is even more hilarious than Pigs in Hiding, which was welcomed with raves last year. There is no letup in the antics at the Pig domain, where William's three siblings keep chivvying him to hurry. The youngest porcine dawdles maddeningly while the others rush through morning chores so they won't miss the bus taking all the neighborhood children to the class picnic at Porky Park. William is left behind when the bus leaves with everyone else on board. In a gleeful switch, however, he arranges a picnic for himself and his beloved goldfish, Pinky. And his brothers arrive home in time to enjoy the fun when their outing is canceled by rain. It's all the ridiculous extras in Dubanevich's sunny-colored pictures that make her books irresistible.
