Circus Day: A Novel of Suspense

What begins as a carefree outing at a Long Island shopping mall turns into a terrifying experience, as Kate Armstrong and her two young children are kidnapped by a pair of hunted criminals. Forced at gunpoint to drive to New England, Kate must control her fear and confusion in order to evade the violent caprices of the thugs Torrey and Lowell. Meanwhile, Kate's businessman husband, Ted, starts a frantic search for his family that is colored by his guilt for having neglected them in the past, and for his recent unfaithfulness. Sketchily drawn and unsympathetic characters mar this competently-told story. (April)
