Letters from My Father’s Murderer: A Journey of Forgiveness

Author and blogger Coombs faced the unfathomable when her father, whom she loved dearly, was killed by the husband of a woman with whom he had fallen in love. The violent murder derailed Coombs’s life. As a new Christian, she “knew Jesus was calling me to love my enemy. To forgive. But this is not what I signed up for.” What she also didn’t sign up for was what became regular written correspondence with her father’s murderer as he served two consecutive life sentences in prison. Coombs wanted information about her father’s last moments, but to obtain it, she had to trust and be trusted by a man she despised. Through the exchange of letters, she finds herself on a journey to find healing and forgiveness and to Christian redemption. The book contains some of those letters. Readers will feel Coombs’s agonizing pain but can also rejoice with her as she finds freedom from a lifetime of anger and resentment through true forgiveness.
